Hello fellow Volunteers. I thought we could add a new tab to our revamped website where we could try to connect with each other and post any information on upcoming volunteer opportunities. So we'll see how it goes and if it's a helpful resource.

Volunteers come from every sector of society and every demographic group. They choose a cause(s) and go about the effort of trying to make a difference in someone's life. Sometimes the effect is a mere drop in the bucket when measured against the overall need. Other times the effort can create a far-reaching positive change. Volunteers choose to donate their resources to organizations small and large, from national organizations (like NAMI) to local charity groups or community endeavors. Other volunteers prefer to be the "boots on the ground" and give their time and effort to work on behalf of their chosen cause.
Every volunteer's mission is to provide valuable support to needful communities (human and non-human).

I know why I volunteer for NAMI Connecticut, but I think those of us who give our resources (time, work, money) would like to see what motivates others to do so. Please feel free to add your comments below and come back to read those from others.

As always, thanks for all of the great things you do.

I am currently working as a behavioral health technician at my local hospital. I know there is more that I can do for my community, so I am very interested in becoming a volunteer for Nami. I will be waiting for someone to contact me.
